Withered Grasslands

This land has long ago lost its former beauty, the large expanses of grassy fields that held many different creatures big and small. But now it is a wasteland, barely livable for many. Rainfall is rare here, and few water sources are available. Even dead grass cannot seem to survive, as the ground is merely hard earth. It usually seems that only tiny animals such as the mouse or meerkat scurry across the dirt, but where there's prey there's predators.
